A unique adventure started with the intention of preserving the ancient traditions.

Thus began years ago the revitalization of an old vineyard of over 30 years thanks to the idea of Ascanio Orlandini and his father Pier Francesco who have dedicated many years to the restoration of the land leaving on the soil the old vineyards...

Located in the middle of the forest between the Castle of Gargonza and the Castle of Calcione near Monte San Savino, the vineyard was in a semi-abandoned state before it was annexed to the family property.

From that moment it was revitalized with the intention to express the characteristics of its terroir, so special just for the position.

With this attention, Argena wine born, becoming a special wine from Sangiovese grapes with small amounts of Cabernet Sauvignon.

A unique terroir combined with original clones, the small production resulting from the aged vineyard, the traditional method of vinification in wood and the following refinement in barrique, transfer to the Argena wine an incredible unicity.

The family Orlandini took care of the old vines using only natural fertilizers, regenerating the land and the plants with partial replacements of Cabernet Sauvignon and protecting them from the wildlife of the forest. After a few years here was born a wine of great quality, Argena, a special wine, unique expression of the vineyard itself.

This wine is produced thanks to a method based on wooden boxes, manual labor and small quantities.

The use of barrels in the fermentation process is probably the element that gives the Argena wine its distinctive and unique notes season by season.

At the end, Argena, A Great Reason for Every Season

‘You don't drink wine only, you sniff it, you look, taste, sip and talk about it.

And let me close with this: drinking good wine with good food, good company is one of the most civilized pleasures of life.’

(Edoardo VII)
