CAVALLUCCI

Almond cookies from Siena

Cavallucci (horses) are traditional cookies from Siena prepared with orange and lime peel, anise seeds, almonds and spices including cinnamon, nutmeg and coriander.

Since the postilions were fond of this specialty an image of a horse were stamped on the cookies, hence the name cavallucci.
