Vinci (Florence)
Vinci, hometown of Leonardo, hosts a fair in costume complete with historic parade, jousting and other games.
A key moment, the Volo di Cecco Santi, is a re-enactment of the myth of the knight who, condemned for betraying
his city, miraculously flew to a nearby hill instead of falling to his death from the tower – an event that happened to coincide with
a particularly abundant harvest and has therefore been celebrated ever after.
