Recreating the medieval tradition of welcoming hunters on their return with games and banquets (made from the game and fowl caught), Montalcino celebrates the end of the hunting season with festivities and an archery competition

between the four quarters of the city.

The Montalcino area receives influxes of migratory birds, in particular tordi (thrushes), hence the name of the event.
