The city turns into a giant open-air gelateria, where it’s possible to taste an extraordinary selection of equally extraordinary flavours of gelato.
Taste samples served up in various piazza of the city.
You’ll want to pick up a Firenze Gelato Card (also handy for parking and public transportation discounts, along with special treats in participating area businesses).
Florence has a long relationship with gelato; from Caterina de’ Medici who exported this Florentine dessert to France, to the famous architect Buontalenti who amazed the court of Cosimo I de’ Medici with his zabaione and fruit based ice cream.
