BUONTALENTI GELATO HISTORY
In 1979, Florentine gelato makers held a competition to remember the great local architect Bernardo Buontalenti and the influence he had on the history of gelato.
The Gelateria Badiani entered the competition with a flavour simply called ‘Buontalenti,' which went on to win the blue ribbon.
From then on, this cream-based delicacy has held a soft spot in the hearts of Florentines and gelato lovers alike.
