Honey from Lunigiana
This is considered to be the best honey in Italy and was the first to obtain the D.O.P. certificate.
The secret of the high-quality lity is in the uncontaminated environment, rich in flora and chestnut and acacia trees.
There are three main types of Lunigiana honey: the Acacia very clear and liquid, the scent is fruity, sugary, and floral.
The Chestnut with dark amber tone, with a taste similar to the fragrance, lingering with a touch of bitterness.
Then the Millefiori, the characteristics change from year to year, according to the season’s flowers.
The flavour is always intense and aromatic with hints of caramel and liquorice.
Bee keeping has always been important in the whole Lunigiana area, and the use of honey as a sweetener and also as a medicine, as well as the use of wax in the production of candles is well documented.
Lunigiana honey has won recognition in many national and international competitions.
