CERAMICA
Ceramics
Tuscany boasts a very ancient tradition in ceramics, especially in the area around Montelupo, in the province of Florence, where pottery has been made since before the year 1000 a.d.
The raw material for ceramics, as for terracotta, is clay and the Val d’Elsa, particularly rich in clay, has been a natural site for the ceramics industry since the Middle Ages.
Today, the tradition of hand-painted ceramics continues in many of the artisan workshops scattered over the whole of Tuscany where, in addition to a wide range of objects on display, you can watch the various stages of their decoration.
